Sometimes the best way to reconnect is to leave the city behind.

When life begins to feel like an endless cycle of work, traffic, errands and notifications, you don’t necessarily need an expensive flight or a weeklong vacation. Sometimes you simply need a quiet place where the two of you can slow down and remember what it feels like to have nowhere else to be.

Located in Thackerville, Oklahoma, River of Love Resorts is roughly 90 minutes to under two hours from Dallas, depending on your starting point and traffic. Here, seven one-of-a-kind cabins are tucked throughout 60 secluded acres near the Red River.

It feels far away from the city—but it is close enough for an easy romantic weekend getaway.

Why River of Love Is Worth the Short Drive From Dallas

Dallas has no shortage of wonderful restaurants, hotels and date-night experiences. But sometimes a couple needs something quieter.

At River of Love Resorts, there are no crowded hotel hallways or packed schedules. Instead, you’ll find private cabins, hot tubs beneath the Oklahoma sky, wooded surroundings and room to breathe.

There is no Wi-Fi at the cabins, and cell service is limited. That means fewer notifications, fewer distractions and more opportunities to be fully present with one another.

Spend the evening beside the fire. Enjoy coffee outside in the morning. Soak in your private hot tub without watching the clock.

This isn’t just somewhere to spend the night. It is a place created for couples to rest, relax and renew.

Seven Romantic Cabins, Each With Its Own Personality

No two cabins at River of Love Resorts are alike. Each has its own design, setting and personality, allowing you to choose a stay that feels like the two of you.

Every cabin includes a private hot tub, but the experience inside and around each retreat is completely unique.

The Greenbriar

The Greenbriar is a handcrafted log cabin with a warm, timeless atmosphere. Its two-person indoor Jacuzzi tub, private outdoor cedar shower, hammock and secluded setting make it a beautiful choice for couples who love traditional cabin charm.

The Love Train Caboose

For a stay you’ll be talking about for years, escape to an authentic 1949 Missouri Pacific caboose transformed into a romantic retreat. The Love Train blends its railroad history with the comfort and privacy of a couples getaway.

The Stargazer

The Stargazer is a modern container cabin featuring its own private rooftop deck. Watch the sunset, look up at the stars and enjoy an experience that feels completely different from an ordinary weekend away.

Precious Cargo

Precious Cargo offers a relaxed, thoughtfully designed retreat with a private top deck, covered hot tub, hammock and fire pit. It is perfect for couples who want quiet mornings, beautiful outdoor spaces and a little extra personality.

The Love Shack

Rustic, cozy and full of charm, The Love Shack is known for its one-of-a-kind floating bed and secluded setting. It is a playful, romantic escape designed for couples who want something memorable.

Our collection also includes The Redbud and Creekside Cottage, our spacious two-bedroom, two-bathroom retreat and the only pet-friendly cabin on the property.

A Two-Night Romantic Weekend Itinerary

You don’t need an overpacked itinerary to make a weekend meaningful. Here is how we would spend two nights at River of Love Resorts.

Friday: Leave the City Behind

Pack the car and head north on Interstate 35. Check-in begins at 4:00 p.m., and your private directions, dropped pin, gate code and cabin code will be sent once your cabin is ready.

After arriving, unpack and let the pace of the weekend begin to slow down.

Prepare an easy dinner, settle in beside the fire or climb into your private hot tub. There is no pressure to go anywhere or do anything.

That is the plan.

Saturday: Explore—or Stay Right Where You Are

Sleep in and enjoy coffee outside before deciding what kind of day you want.

You could spend the entire day at your cabin, schedule a massage at our on-property Zen Den or explore more of southern Oklahoma.

Guests looking for adventure can experience our primitive River Trail leading toward the Red River. The hike generally takes approximately 45–60 minutes each way, so wear appropriate shoes, bring water and plan for changing weather and trail conditions.

You can also drive to Lake Murray State Park for hiking and beautiful scenery, or visit WinStar World Casino and Resort—located approximately 10 miles from River of Love—for gaming, dining, golf or a concert at Lucas Oil Live.

Return to your cabin, prepare dinner and end the evening beneath the stars.

Sunday: One More Slow Morning

Check-out is at 11:00 a.m., giving you time for one last cup of coffee and a quiet morning together.

You’ll return to Dallas feeling as though you truly went somewhere—without losing an entire day to airports, connecting flights or a long drive home.

Make It a Weekend Worth Celebrating

River of Love Resorts has been part of countless anniversaries, birthdays, honeymoons, proposals and spontaneous getaways.

If you are celebrating something special, we offer several packages and thoughtful enhancements that can be waiting inside your cabin when you arrive. Depending on the package you select, your surprise may include flowers, chocolate-covered strawberries, champagne, rose petals, keepsake glasses or robes.

You can also schedule a massage at The Zen Den, located right here on the property. Massages are provided one guest at a time, allowing each of you an opportunity to relax and fully unwind.

The Perfect Getaway for Couples Who Need to Unplug

The most meaningful part of a weekend at River of Love is often what isn’t here.

No Wi-Fi. Limited cell service. No crowded itinerary and no expectation that you need to see or do everything before leaving.

Instead, you have the freedom to rest, talk, laugh, reconnect and enjoy the kind of uninterrupted time that can be difficult to find at home.

Our off-grid setting is part of what makes the experience so special. Before arriving, download anything you may need and let someone know where you’ll be. Then give yourself permission to step away from the constant noise for a little while.
